Official Plan Review

The Municipality of Central Elgin is updating its Official Plan. The Official Plan policies have been drafted, and include policies on:

• New housing and complete communities
• The protection of historic buildings and the natural environment
• Economic development
• Impacts of climate change

Please review the Official Plan Policy Update Report and the Residential Land Supply Report (located in the document section of this page) and provide your feedback!

We've added the a new document called "Growing Together Central Elgin Official Plan Update - Phan 1 Engagement Summary".

Document Overview

Phase 1 of updating the Official Plan is the Project Launch phase. This phase consisted of developing the vision, opportunities and challenges for growth to 2046 for Central Elgin, which were identified and discussed with stakeholders, Council and the public. The Municipality also identified key policy themes that will be addressed in the Official Plan, including Planning for Growth, Rural and Agricultural Policy, Housing Affordability, Environment and Climate Change, Hazard Lands, and Indigenous Community Consultation and Reconciliation.

During Phase 1, stakeholders, Council, and the public were presented with an overview of the Official Plan Update and related projects and initiatives that support the Official Plan. We asked for feedback on the key issues and opportunities, policy themes, planning for growth, and ideas and suggestions throughout the engagement process. The goal of this phase was to answer questions and gather initial feedback and comments to guide the overall vision for the Official Plan update.

We have posted under the document section of this page a summary of the first Open House regarding Central Elgin's Official Plans. Please take a look!
