Background

Interest in operating a jet ski rental business in Port Stanley dates to 2017, when a vendor operated from the beach for a single season. In 2024, renewed interest and unsolicited proposals from prospective operators were submitted to the Municipality. Staff acknowledge that such a business could offer the Municipality additional revenue and may benefit local tourism. To ensure fairness, transparency, and community alignment, a structured process is recommended before proceeding.

Feasibility Analysis

Staff are preparing a feasibility analysis for a third-party operated jet ski rental business(es) in Port Stanley Harbour, which will include a policy review, public consultation and evaluation process, with a report back to Council for a decision by Spring 2026.
