Central Elgin Hospital Lands Survey

The Municipality of Central Elgin is planning a new community designed to be a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable place to live, work, and play. The 168-hectare former Psychiatric Hospital Lands offer a rare opportunity for a complete community that supports municipal strategic goals of affordability and sustainability, provides space for new homes and residents to meet provincial housing targets, and responds to population and housing pressures linked to regional job growth.

A vision and guiding principles have been established and approved by Council, highlighting priorities such as housing options, a vibrant main street, parks and community facilities, cultural heritage, and sustainable design. Based on these, draft Policy Directions and a Land Use Plan have been prepared. We want your input before Council finalizes them.

Please review the following documents of the Policy Directions and Land Use Plan that was presented to Council on September 22, 2025, before filling out this survey.

Land Use Plan

Policy Directions

Your feedback will help shape the policies that guide how the Hospital Lands develop. Survey results will be summarized and reported to Council in early 2026.

All individual responses will remain confidential, questions are optional, and the survey should take about 15 minutes to complete.

Vision Statement and Guiding Principles

The Vision Statement and the Guiding Principles established the foundation for developing the draft policy directions and land use plan.
